Japon, Miyagi. Distillerie en production. Propriétaires : Nikka Whisky Distilling (Asahi)Cadette de la très célèbre distillerie Yoichi, Miyagikyo est la deuxième distillerie de la société Nikka Whisky Distilling fondée en 1934 (Dai Nippon Kaju Kabushiki Kaisha) par Masataka Taketsuru. La distillerie fut achevée en 1969 sur l'île principale d'Honshu, dans la province de Miyagi, et distilla pour la première fois son malt cette même année. Futuriste et résolument moderne, elle accueille en son sein plusieurs alambics à colonnes de type Coffey Still, afin de produire du whisky de grain mais aussi de malt entrant dans la composition des blends du groupe. Plus confidentielle que son aînée, Miyagikyo n'en reste pas moins un malt attrayant en raison de la versatilité de son caractère. Elle passe du registre doux, fleuri et fruité aux senteurs plus boisées, épicées et parfois fumées, chères à Yoichi.
