La France a de tout temps été un marché de prédilection pour Knockando. En cela, son single malt incarne parfaitement « The Auld Alliance » entre la France et l'Ecosse, allant jusqu'à adopter certains codes chers au monde du vin et du cognac, dont le millésime et l'appellation « Extra Old ». Il est ainsi possible de suivre l'évolution du style de Knockando marqué par l'élevage en ex-fûts de bourbon, à travers les décennies autour de quatre âges pivots : 12, 15, 18 et 21 ans, portant tous mention du millésime. Le paradis pour tout collectionneur.Quelques rares versions intégralement vieillies en ex-fûts de sherry sont aussi disponibles en séries très limitées, dont un Knockando 25 ans limité à 4758 bouteilles pour le monde, et le très rare Knockando 20 ans for Aberdeen University.
