Deuxième distillerie à avoir été intégrée en 1970 à l'écurie de Stanley P Morrison Ltd (alors propriétaire de Bowmore depuis 1963), Glen Garioch est une référence dans le monde des single malts à collectionner. Cette renommée fut initiée par Stanley P Morrison qui, dès la fin des années 70, propose à ses distributeurs de superbes éditions limitées, dont Glen Garioch 1971 pour Samaroli. A la même époque, une version de 8 ans voit le jour dans un flacon trapu teinté marron. Puis, au milieu des années 80, plusieurs versions de 21 ans millésimées 1965 sont déclinées en fûts de sherry et de bourbon, cask strength ou non. Mais il faut attendre l'arrivée du japonais Suntory en 1994, qui rachète la société Morrison Bowmore, pour que les choses s'accélèrent notamment autour de la gamme Individual Cask Bottling, et de deux millésimes exceptionnels : 1968 et 1970.
