Première distillerie érigée au 20ème siècle (1958-1960), Tormore fut rapidement remarquée tant pour son architecture (bâtiments classés) que pour son malt né à l'ombre des fûts de xèrés : Tormore 10 ans The Pure Highland Malt (80's) et Tormore 10 ans Speyside Malt Scotch Whisky (70's).C'est pourtant une distillerie dont l'objet principal est de produire pour les blends de ses différents propriétaires (Long John Distillers, Allied Domecq) connus sous les noms de Long John, Ballantine ou Stewart's Cream. Rachetée en juillet 2005 par Pernod Ricard, il faudra attendre 2014 pour qu'une reprise en main de ses mises en bouteilles en nom propre soit effective, sous la forme d'éditions limitées de type small batch âgées de 14 à 16 ans, élevées en fûts de chêne américain.
