« Un grand rhum, c’’est avant tout le partage d’’une émotion forte due à une exécution parfaite. Nous sommes en quelque sorte les artisans du rhum » pour reprendre les termes d’’Alexandre Gabriel, le maitre assembleur à l’’origine de cette maison. Passionné par les spiritueux et ce qu’’ils révèlent du terroir dont ils sont issus, ce dernier se lance d’’abord dans les cognacs avec la maison Ferrand avant de se concentrer sur les gins. Après un voyage en Haïti, c’’est décidé : ce sont désormais les rhums qu’’il souhaite explorer, c’’est la naissance de Plantation.
Véritable défricheur de terroirs, la maison sélectionne ses rhums dans des distilleries locales (dont ils sont parfois propriétaires ou co-propriétaires) des quatre coins du monde, Pérou, Jamaïque, des Caraïbes ou encore des Fidji. Une des signatures est bien le double-vieillissement qui consiste à faire d’’abord vieillir le rhum sur place, c’’est le vieillissement tropical, en fût de bourbon ; avant de le rapatrier en France pour un élevage continental en vieux fûts de cognac. L’’idée est de retranscrire au mieux le terroir dont le nectar est issu, et de le magnifier grâce au savoir-faire artisan de cette maison de référence.
La gamme est large et invite au voyage : range, signature blend et vintage. De bons moments de méditation en vue pour les heureux acquéreurs de ces flacons.
