Donated by Alabat Armagnac

Alabat and La Maison du Whisky have co-selected this auction cask n°37 of the 1992 vintage by Domaine de Péré. This domain, partner of Alabat, was established in 1552 in the village of Bourrouillan, at the heart of the Gers and the Bas-Armagnac region. Taking over the running of the domain from her father Pierre, Margaux Dufréchou continues the family tradition and an almost 500-year old expertise. This Armagnac, made from the Baco grape variety, was distilled in December 1992 in a mobile wood-fired Armagnac still by Pierre Dufréchou. It was then aged for 31 years in a French oak barrel before being bottled without filtration or additives, to cask strength by Simon in July 2024. This exceptional brandy, with a patina from ageing but still full of energy, embodies all the vitality of Armagnac.
Alabat has also added an original portrait of Margaux Dufréchou, painted by Basque artist Anna Petrissans in June 2023, to this lot. This acrylic on canvas, rich in colours and contrasts, embodies the passion and boldness of the model. Fragments of this portrait illustrate, and will continue to illustrate, each of the Alabat vintages from Domaine de Péré.

The distillery Alabat

In 1948, Abel Labat got into producing armagnac in Landes, France. 70 years later, Simon Vignau, his great-grandson, decided to revive this family heritage by creating Alabat. His dream to offer remarkable armagnacs, produced by craftsmen and highlighted by artists has today become a reality. Alabat's selection is as follows: a winegrower, an artist, a vintage, a cask. Each cask selected is an ode to the creative work of their partner producers, a section of their portrait illustrating each label. Alabat showcases the diversity of the Armagnac terroir as well as the stories and the expertise of the men and women who bring it to life. A company with a clear and devoted mission since its creation, Alabat is also a proud member and ambassador of the 1% For the Planet network.
