Cuvée presentation

A single cask (#01) of rum from Fiji, distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2022. Matured first in a tropical climate then continental, this molasses rum was distilled in a pot still and has spent 14 years in bourbon barrels in the Fiji Islands, before being aged in cognac casks, in France, in the cellars of Maison Ferrand. Produced from a process of long fermentation lasting one week, it has an ester content of between 168 grams per hectolitre of pure alcohol. Extremely concentrated, its aromatic and flavour palate finds its point of equilibrium through a marvellous alternation of oxidative (Xeres vinegar), heady (wild geranium), burned (tar) and indulgent (rum baba) sequences. A limited edition of 474 bottles.

The distillery Plantation Rum

“A great rum is above all about inspiring strong emotions through faultless execution. In many ways we are rum craftsman,” explains Alexandre Gabriel, the master blender behind this house. With a keen love of spirits and their ability to reflect different terroirs, Gabriel first began making cognac at Maison Ferrand before concentrating on gin. After a trip to Haiti, he decided it was time to explore the world of rum, and so Plantation was born.
A true trailblazer for the notion of spirit terroir, Plantation selects rums from local distilleries (some of which it owns or co-owns) and the four corners of the globe, from Peru to Jamaica, the Caribbean and Fiji. One of its signature styles is double maturation, which involves first ageing the rum on site in bourbon casks (tropical ageing), then transferring the rum to France for continental ageing in used cognac casks. The aim is to create a faithful expression of the spirit’’s terroir by drawing on the house’’s special expertise.
The wide range is an invitation to travel, with signature blends, collections and vintage bottlings. Anyone lucky enough to get hold of these bottles is guaranteed a special moment of meditation and reflection.
