Cuvée presentation

A small batch of Vieux Sajous, distilled in 2019 and bottled in 2024. Produced at the Chelo distillery in Saint-Michel-de-l’Attalaye from the Cristalline variety of sugar-cane, this edition is crafted from a blend of casks that previously held rums from Mount Gay, Bielle, Caroni and Hampden, along with a Tennessee whiskey from Jack Daniel’s and a Scotch single malt from Benriach. Deliciously oxidative and rich in macerated fruit aromas, this version delves into olfactory and gustatory realms of exceptional complexity and diversity. At just five years old, it displays an impressive maturity of expression while retaining the carefree nature of its early youth.

The distillery Chelo

The Chelo distillery was founded by Michel Sajous in Saint-Michel-de-l’Attalaye in the north of Port-au-Prince. Distillation is carried out in a small bagasse-fired pot still equipped with a six-plate column. Chelo is one of the producers selected by Luca Gargano and Daniele Biondi during a trip to Haiti in 2012 that helped introduce Clairins to a wider public.
