Cuvée presentation

An official bottling of Nikka 40 Year Old blended from some of its oldest stocks (Yoichi 1945 and Miyagikyo 1969) and bottled in 2014 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Nikka. 40 Year Old is the age of maturity and also the age Masataka Taketsuru was when he founded his company, Nikka. This cuvée alone evokes, with sensitivity and great nuance, the complex yet subtle journey of its founder. Alternating between twilight notes of undergrowth, precious woods, fine spices and caramelised fruit and radiant notes of exotic fruits, red fruits, citrus and juniper berries, this respectable Nikka is elevated by the purity of the spring water from which it draws, a true elixir of eternal youth. A limited edition of 1,000 bottles.

The distillery Nikka Whisky

Nikka's founder Masataka Taketsuru is considered the father of Japanese whisky. After completing studies in chemistry, he was recruited by the Settsu Shuzo company, who sent him to Scotland in 1918 to complete his apprenticeship. There he developed a passion for whisky and decided to dedicate his life to it. In 1934, he built Yoichi, his first distillery, on the island of Hokkaido. Its growing success enabled him to establish a second distillery in 1969, near Sendai, named Miyagikyo. It is from the single malts of these two distilleries that the Nikka Whisky group produces its entire range of Japanese whiskies.
