The Kanosuke distillery was founded in 2017 by Yoshitsugu Komasa in the south of the island of Kyushu in Kagoshima Prefecture. Komasa is the sixth generation of shochu producer since the Komasa Jyoso brewery was created in 1883. The distillery is equipped with three pot stills whose shapes and degree of lyne arm vary in order to produce a range of whisky profiles. Kanosuke ages these spirits in Mellowed Kozuru casks. In fact, the brewery was one of the first to ever produce a cask-aged shochu.
A single cask of Kanosuke (#20373) distilled in 2018, matured in Japanese Arvga Alcacer wine casks and bottled in September 2021 for Katsanuma. A limited edition of 282 bottles.
