Antigua Distillers Ltd was founded in 1929 by a cooperative of local rum retailers who wanted control over the production of their stocks. The distillery began operating three years later, which each of the cooperative’s owners bottling their own label of rum produced at the distillery. The distillery’s first collaborative rum, Cavalier Antigua Label, was released in 1947 and went on to become the now well-known brand English Harbour. The historic Savalle column still was replaced with a John Dore column still in 1991.
An official bottling from Antigua Distillers Ltd distilled in 1981 in its old Savalle still and bottled in 2006. A limited edition of 5,712 bottles.
