Released in 2016 by Sovereign Brands, Bumbu Rum is based on a recipe dating back 400 years, originally used by merchants and sailors from the French West Indies, who mixed Caribbean fruits and spices into their rum, giving it its distinctive name. Bumbu is distilled from sugar cane grown across eight different countries in the Caribbean and Latin America. The name "Bumbu" comes from the Creole word "boumbou", which can be translated as a mix or blend.
