Founded in 1873 in Tequila Valley, Mexico, Fortaleza has been continuing a family tradition of excellence for over 145 years. This artisan distillery, which is today managed by the Guillermo Sauza family, stands out for its long-respected technique, involving cooking in stone ovens, crushing using the tahona volcanic stone, natural fermentation in open-air tanks and double distillation in copper stills. Using exclusively blue agave grown 1,200m above sea-level and harvested after seven or eight years of maturation, Fortaleza produces remarkably pure tequilas.
