Glendronach

Ecosse, Highland de l'Est/Speyside. Distillerie en production. Propriétaires : Brown Forman.

C'est sous la tutelle d'Allied Domecq, propriétaire de la distillerie jusqu'au début des années 2000, que Glendronach se fit remarquer auprès des amateurs de single malts vieillis en ex-fûts de sherry. Au-delà d'une superbe version de 12 ans généreuse et racée, ce sont les versions de 18 ans millésimées 1972, 1976, 1977 (inscrit au dos de la bouteille) qui attisent la convoitise des connaisseurs. Au début des années 90, plusieurs mises en bouteilles de The Glendronach 25 ans 1968 faites pour le marché japonais (ANA Edition) et américain (partiellement écoulées en Europe) suscitent l'émoi des plus avertis et laissent entrevoir la qualité des fûts en cours de vieillissement au sein des chais de la distillerie. Mais il faudra attendre 2008 et l'arrivée de Billy Walker à sa tête pour que la belle endormie révèle tout son potentiel.En ce début de 21ème siècle, alors que beaucoup ont depuis longtemps troqué leurs atours andalous pour un style plus rond et consensuel, The Glendronach occupe le devant de la scène en lançant régulièrement des versions 100% sherry, single cask, millésimées remportant ainsi l'adhésion des amateurs et des collectionneurs de whisky.
