Au-delà de leurs présences au sein de la gamme des « Six Classics Malts », Cragganmore et Lagavulin furent dès 1923 liées l'une à l'autre, lorsque Sir Peter Mackie acquiert Cragganmore Distillery et l'accueille au sein de sa société Mackie & Co – White Horse Distillers. Cragganmore devient un malt essentiel dans la composition des blends de la société qui est rachetée en 1927 par la DCL (Distillers Company Limited) : White Horse, Old Parr. Plébiscité par les amateurs et les connaisseurs, Cragganmore reste encore un single malt confidentiel. Sa version de 12 ans, étiquette crème, reste depuis plus de vingt ans son porte-étendard. Seule une version antérieure de 12 ans proposée par la société D.& J. McCallum Limited, Edinburgh, constitue aujourd'hui une véritable pièce de collection.
