Située à l'entrée même du village de Pitlochry, la distillerie Blair Athol bénéficie d'une petite notoriété auprès des collectionneurs en raison de la qualité de ses mises en bouteilles dès les années 60. Ses versions âgées de 8 et 12 ans sont de dignes représentantes, tant sur le plan aromatique qu'esthétique, de cette époque bénie que furent les Trente Glorieuses. Ainsi, pendant longtemps, Blair Athol fut cantonnée à ces deux expressions issues d'un élevage en ex-fûts de sherry. Plus tard, et sous l'influence du groupe United Distillers, elle intègrera les gammes The Rare Malts Selection, Flora & Fauna, Manager's Choice et Manager's Dram. C'est le malt phare du blend Bell's.
