Ainsi nommée en hommage à Napoléon qui se serait écrié « cette liqueur sera ma favorite » alors qu'il en dégustait une gorgée, la distillerie La Favorite est située aux portes de Fort de France, en Martinique. Fondée en 1842, l'Habitation La Favorite produit à l'origine du sucre de canne. C'est au rachat de la distillerie par Henri Dormoy que celle-ci est modernisée et transformée en distillerie. Elle est alors équipée d'une machine à vapeur, toujours en service aujourd'hui. La production vieillie quant à elle principalement dans d'anciens fûts de cognac.
